Had trouble getting my bike started today
« on: August 16, 2011, 04:59:07 PM »

This morning at the gas station, she whined a little before starting. After work, all I got was click, click then she fired up. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt. Tore apart the start switch and yeah, I got some corrosion on the starter contacts. Cleaned it up with a dremel brush. Pried up the ears on the push button a little and stick it all back together. Starts just like new.

Only posting this to keep someone from buying a new battery or starter relay if it's actually a switch issue. Five minutes to find out if the switch is not making contact.

I don't care what other people think. They don't do it very often!
Of Course it's dirty. It's hard to clean when the tires keep moving.

Hey Wayne, it pays to try and fix something rather than go buy a new one.  The latter seems to be the norm nowadays.  Good work

What I do today is very important because
I traded a day of my life for it.

Whatever you want to do, do it now.

If you don't love what you're doing, then don't do it.
Your chances of success are directly proportional to the degree of pleasure you derive from what you do.
