I'm no mechanic...
« on: September 29, 2010, 03:19:55 PM »

What I thought was gonna take 5 min and no effort ended up taking almost 2 hours and a half a pack of smokes!!!

You wondering what I'm talking about?  No it wasn't anything serious like engine work... Hell I probably would have had better luck with that...

Ready????

It was changing my f-ing head light!!! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

That's it.  From the very beggining I knew I was in trouble.
Where do I start?  Well the lightbulb was siezed in there.  The rubber casing got ripped (oops) in the process.  When I finally removed the old one and reinstalled the new one I couldn't get the lens cap to go back on straight!!  :banghead: :cuss: :banghead: :cuss:

Needless to say I got the damn thing back on and it works fine.  Not sure if it was worth all the effort to have a brighter light but whats done is done!

The lesson I learned: I don't know squat about bikes and I need to leave the work to the pros.  Thanks for letting me share... :t :bikerider:

Most jobs like that are very easy if you watch someone do it first. Try to make the next tech session.

Good idea on both.  So how hard is it to install a new (baron) intake system and jetting carbs?  Thats my next task...
It's sitting on my dining room table waiting to be installed.  Hope it was worth the money.  Probably just gonna pay to get it done.

The hardest part is getting the a/f screw out.

I don't know but my first thought was "The A/F screw is the one that drops into a little tiny space and you immediately say 'Aww, TarterSauce!'"

I don't care what other people think. They don't do it very often!
Of Course it's dirty. It's hard to clean when the tires keep moving.

close.... but in this case it is the air fuel screw that requires a special tool to remove it, and that causes the 'Aww, TarterSauce!'

It's really not that hard to get to the A/F now if your not removing the carb it is a be-atch without the proper tools.  O0

That is what I thought when i replaced the light bulb of my X. I thought 15min tops...yeah right. 1.5 hrs later and loosing a couple of pounds (did it in the garage with 100F temp) I got it done. I almost tore the rubber casing myself. But now that I know how to do it, it's a cinch

Yeah I'm gonna get iy done rather than do it myself.  I also have one of those conversion kits that turns your rear turn signals into a running light and breaklight.  Looks confusing.  I really just want it done.  With as little "AF-ing" as possible...
