Viking bags
« on: March 24, 2010, 08:29:38 PM »

I have a 2002 1800R. I've been looking at different styles of saddlebags for some time now. I found that Viking makes bags specifically for the VTX. They even come complete with all mounting hardware. Anyone used these bags and if so, how would you rate them?
Thanks for your help.

As a former Minnesotan, I have Viking bags. I find, as I get older, that they are sagging, and fairly unattractive. I can't get my wife anywhere near them.  :ohwow:

           LMAO!!!!!!

I have not used viking bags either.  I did look at their website and opted to go with
Edge bags.  I wanted some really large bags for my 1800R and these were the largest that I could find and they mount with the E-Z brackets.  Going on 2 years and no sagging, just a small bit of rust on the head of the screws.  They have a thick plastic plate inside that keeps them from sagging.

HDL used to sell K-Drive bags made in Belgium.  I had a set on my X.  Quick detach, leather covered, plastic (fiberglass) inner liner, huge, lockable and basically indestructible.  Also costly.  Looked good.  Came with all mounting hardware.  Hardware looked good and hardly noticeable if you wanted to leave bags off.  Don't know if Hal still sells them.  Here is a website.

I bought the Boss Bags a few months ago.  Yep, a little pricey but IMHO well worth the cost.  Called Boss Bags 800 # and spoke to very helpful and knowledgable staff.  Directions to install were awesome and hardware was top notch.   I'm very satisfied.
