Not shifting from 2nd to 3rd gears on up ('03 vtx 1800)

Help, does this sound like something might be bent in the transmission, the shifting rod doesn't go back far enough for it to click for 3rd gear on up, does anyone know where I can look at a schematic of the trans. online  for '03 vtx 1800  Thanks

its a known problem with the linkage.  take off the cover and clean and lube all the linkages. you should be good for another 5000 miles.

do you have the heel/toe shifter?  if you do, all you need to do is get down there and lube of the all the moving areas.  I had the problem that when i was up shifting, stepping on the heel part it would not come back up so i can engage the next gear.  it's nearly impossible to bend or break anything inside that VTX motor.
