Today is my oldest daughter's 18th birthday so I am going to surprise her by showing up at her aunt's house.  Weather permitting, I will ride the X there and back.  I've been on the phone looking for some highway pegs to mount to my 1-1/2 inch Cobra Fatty.  So far, I'm hearing special order.  Anyone think of a local that I could purchase from tonight?  I'd like something to stretch out some.  Maybe returning via Austin so the price savings of ordering from HDL and waiting vs the comfort of traveling with pegs tomorrow......I'm thinking buy tonight..   Anyone?  Bueler?

Dan, be careful.  That will be a long hot ride.  Stop often and drink plenty h2o & Gatorade.

About the pegs, I don't know why I didn't think of this before.  I'll cut a 1 1/2" cedar stake about 4' long with just enough curve to it to cross the radiator and set against the crash bars.  We fed hay for years over here, so I have plenty of baling wire to wire it on with. :) :D ;D

Jerry

Jerry, thanks but I am recalling what you said about cedar being a water hog.  If I put that cedar bar next to the radiator it's likely to suck the coolant out and turn my X into an air cooled (or not cooled) motor.

Glad you can make it Danny! 8)

Dan, the only place that I can think would sonething in stock, is the HD dealership. They've got tons of accessories on the peg board, and I know I've seen clamps there. Of course the pegs may have the bar & sheild on them. ::) BTW: I was going to tell y'all, I stopped by there to look at boots a couple of days ago. They're selling a bunch of styles at 50% off. I picked up 2 pair of 3/4 height boots for $115 total drive out.

RD, thanks for the heads up.  I thought about trying Javelina HD but called around and few offered any hope of something in stock.  Alamo Cycle Plex said they had plenty of different pegs but when I got there at 6:30, they had plenty of pegs but now 1 1/2 " clamps to fit my Cobra FAtty.  Oh well.  Y'all have Sat.  Be safe.

I just returned from my day trip to Houston to celebrate my oldest daughters 18th birthday..Great surprise; she did not expect me to be there.  Didn't take the X and that was a good thing since the traffic was so bad on I 10 that Mason Rd to San Felipe @ 610 took an hour and 25 minutes.  That's too long to sit on a bike in stop and go traffic in full face helmet, mesh jacket, etc in 97 degree heat in the rain.  My cage hasn't felt that good in a long time.
Sorry to miss the Blue Knights charity event; I would have enjoyed seeing all of you in this venue but I could not miss seeing my daughter for her 18th - even if it meant 400 mile round trip to the bayou city.
Best Regards.

I was at I 10 at Gessner looking arouond and thinking, "It's hot, humid and I have traveled 5 miles in 45 minutes, what else can go wrong?"  Then it started raining.  I was glad to be in my cage.

Yeah, I don't miss that damn traffic. I used to live off Mason Road, and when I saw the sign yesterday that said, "Katy - Next 9 exits", I knew that things had definitely changed...  :(

Did a quick round trip to Katy yesterday.  Caught shower just west of Katy as I was starting home around 3 PM.  Missed the main rain event which was quick but had to deal with wet roads for abit.  Spent a few minutest under some overpass cuz even sprinkles hurt at 70+ MPH.  All in all thought it was a good trip.  Left around 9:30 AM and got back about 5:30 PM.
