Modifying stock 1300C exhaust tomorrow...need advise
« on: July 29, 2006, 10:59:35 AM »

Ive got a 24 hour shift tommorrow and a lot of time is spent sitting around waiting for something to happen.  That being said I want to try to get a little more sound out of my stock pipes till I get the money to buy new pipes.  Can anyone tell me what is the best way to do this.  Im not looking to gut them completely, just something that will add a little sound.  I have read a few places on here about "drilling them out".  Does this just refer to making the hole at the end of the pipes larger?

Well if your looking to kill time this is not the activity. Drilling isreal easy to do, and the metal is real thin.  It took us all of about 5 mins. to do.  Don't bother stepping the drill bits.  Just hit it with a air hammerto punch the holes.  Then drill with the 1/2 inch bit.

How many holes did you'll put in the back of each pipe?  I have noticed that the stock hole is 1/2 inch itself.

if you drill you may want a hyper charger to increase air intake

my bike is the one that twisted is referring to.  we ended up with a 7/16 bit and the magic number of holes is 7.  theres a page somewhere out there, its called the clayton mod.  i think he went to 9 holes at 15/32, but then threaded and bolted 2 of em to go back to 7 for better sound.  mines been done for a over a week now and i really like it.  its obviously not the same as having custom pipes, but its still a good sound that will do till you either buy new pipes, or just want em louder and take the baffle out....

where you located?  if youre in the houston area, you might want to hear mine before you do it yourself just to make sure....
