OEM Speedometer Mounting Studs
« on: May 17, 2009, 06:28:34 AM »

Does anyone know if the studs that hold the speedometer on are removable from the speedometer?

I was removing the cap nuts from the studs and one of the studs twisted off. I would rather replace the stud than repalce the speedo.  ::) I did try to remove one but it didn't act like it wanted to come out. Don't want to break anything else.  :banghead:

No Dusty, they are permantly molded into the plastic housing. The head has a grip type surface on the sides of it that the plastic molds to when they make it. You can remove these studs with vise grips and a 1/2 turn, then replace with the bolt of the desired length and some JB WELD. Was a perfect mounting place for my XM antenna and or my SPOT bracket.  :agree:

Thank You, Thank you very much!

I'm my own worst enemy. After I stripped the first one, I had no choice except to do some rigging. The speedometer is $170.  :ohwow:
