Holiday weekend so ride safe
« on: May 22, 2009, 07:39:07 AM »

Received this from the PGR and a reminder just to be aware of whats going on around you but sometimes things cannot be helped and thankfully all will be ok and YES could have been  worse.
   -Katfish

Good Evening,

For those that don't know yet and for those that know but want to know more, here's what I gathered.

The Fort Worth and Waco Chapters were headed north on 35 to the Shady Tree to wind down after an extremely energized day.

First the good news. From what everyone has said, this was THE largest turnout for an adoption in Texas . There were 98 Bikes and in the neighborhood of 125 members.

While we waited for the food to be served and bantered back and forth as we have a tendency to do, we heard the sirens and a LEO go screaming past on the interstate.

First reports came in of riders down, lots of bikes parked on the side of the road but not much more. Then came the report that the down riders were BACA members. Questions ensued.

We got confirmation that Tank, Taz and Poison (all 3 Ft Worth Chapter members) all suffered injuries as a result of someone locking up their car in front of them with no way out.

The Waco SAA came back and asked for volunteers to ride one of the bikes back. Sorry Guys, I know ya'll wanted to get back, but I couldn't sit still. Should have told ya'll to head on back without me.

Grab my gear and hop in the truck with Lumpy and head down. We stop on the southbound side across from the scene. Normally, I wouldn't have dreamed of crossing 2 lanes of feeder and 4 lanes of interstate traffic, but I was a bit determined. Go figure.

So armed with my lid and jacket, I start looking for holes in traffic. The amazing thing was that people actually stopped to let me cross.

I get there as the 'bird' (aka LifeFlight) is lifting off. Tank suffered some injuries that as a precaution, they care flighted him. We were told by Trappy that he will be ok. They were working to get Taz on a gurney and Poisen was in the Gut Buggy. Taz was awake and seemed to be coherent but I didn't talk to him. As they loaded Taz in, I called out to Poison and she was fine and able to return my blown kiss.

I'm unsure of Tank's injuries, but I believe some broken bones, maybe arm, leg and some ribs. Taz had a broken leg and some rash. Poison may have a broken foot/ankle and some rash. All were wearing lids and I saw Poison's which impacted on the forehead and rashed the shield.

Now to the REALLY gut wrenching part.

Evidently there was a red sports car, not sure of make, that had been weaving in and out of traffic and would pull in front of other cars then lock it up. Well, he pulled in front of our group, locked it up and they had no where to go. Not sure if a license number was gotten but Texas DPS is looking for the car.

Tank went down and suffered his injuries, Taz actually hit one of the other bikes which broke his left leg but didn't go down. Poison went down and I'm told that one of the other riders ran over her pony tail which is how close it all went down.

As you can well imagine, this isn't a ride report that I like giving.

The ride home was uneventful and somber for me. I kept thinking over the events and unfortunately found myself riding up on Popeye. Sorry about that.

But, we make REALLY good time when Katfish leads (Katfish snikker here). Not sure what your concerns about Gracie were in the morning, but there certainly wasn't any issue with her performance on the ride home.

Was a great day that ended on a bad note. Upside is everyone will be fine.

Let's be safe and as much as we joke, there are those out there looking to take us out.

Injury confirmations below

They are in Temple waiting for Tank to get his arm set.

Tank has broken ribs and a broken wrist.
Taz has a broken leg (5 places, both bones).
Poison has a broken foot and hand.

Could have been much worse!!!!!!!!!

Ladies and Gentlemen of PGR thanks in advance for all your prayers!!!

Man oh man, I hope they find that damn red car...all the fellow bikers need to run back and forth over his f---ing body multiple times.  It is bad enough that there are tons of people out there that are just plain stupid and don't pay attention, it is a whole other issue when someone purposely causes damage and pain.

Isorg,

I no longer want to shoot him. I want to chain him down to a fire ant bed by both legs and an arm and give him a dull rusty knife for his free arm. Then kick the antbed. We can put the driver of the red car on the next ant bed over with his own dull rusty knife.

I know. I'm a sadistic bastard.

I don't care what other people think. They don't do it very often!
Of Course it's dirty. It's hard to clean when the tires keep moving.

Glad to hear that you are ok Larry...those second left turn lanes can be very dangerous.
