1800 fuel injector issue?
« on: May 01, 2009, 08:23:55 PM »

You know how when you turn on the bike before starting it, you hear the whirring of the fuel injector powering up. I have my tank on, it's dry, and the power connector is plugged in. I have not yet hooked up the fuel lines or filled the tank with gas.
When I turn on the bike, I have power, but I don't hear the fuel injector whirring, nor does the FI light come on. ?????

Any thoughts why these aren't working?

 :rofl: :rofl: Check the kill switch on the handle bars.

Don't ask me how I know this.   :stickpoke: :stickpoke:

I don't care what other people think. They don't do it very often!
Of Course it's dirty. It's hard to clean when the tires keep moving.

I always thought the noise you hear was the fuel pump pressuring up the system. I was also recently told that running the pump with low or no fuel will burn it up as being submerged in fuel is what keeps it cool and the impeller blades soft and plyable.

Yeah...kill switch too.  ::)

If your scooter is an '04 or later and it's the externalpump, this may help, however, it might even go a way toward understanding the pump regardless?!  http://www.californiavtxriders.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=35165&sid=40354c47ccb38772f9899ab93ebd08c7

Doh! Kill switch was the answer  :notworthy:  Flipped it and turned the key and whirrrring the pump went! Not long, just a quick second to hear it power up. Next step to fill the tank and see if she starts up!

Thank you gents for all the information  :thumbup:

I had on gloves one winter that were too big. I was clipping along at about 70 mph in the inside lane with an 18 wheeler at my side and cars on my a$$. All of a sudden the bike just stopped pulling.  :ohwow: I was freaking out for a couple of seconds until I realised that my gloved thumb had hit the kill switch. I flipped it back on and made my way to the shoulder as fast as I could. Scared the crap out of me.
