Back pressure cones
« on: February 11, 2009, 07:58:49 PM »

 I had to have my carb rebuilt (so the dealer said $159 later)
 Anyway, the X is running good but I think I have lost a little of the punch since I added the Roadhouse slip on's.
 A wrench said I might need to install something to increase the back pressure,
I researched Power Cones and one site said power cones are only used to keep exhaust gases from backing up into the engine,  ???
So I looked up Torque Cone's, ( they look the same as power cones) The site said this will increase the back pressure to increase torque,
funny thing is I can't find them for a VTX, but there are alot for an HD.

I called HDL and they have nothing.

If anyone has had any dealings with this issue I would appreciate a little feed back.

Build your own. Weld a large washer (like a fender washer) to a stud. Drill your pipe for the stud and lock it in place with nuts. You can adjust it by loosening the nuts and rotating the washer.

Of Course it's dirty. It's hard to clean when the tires keep moving.

I have done what Hip Shot is talking about. It may give away my age but it was on a  Honda 305 Dream. It worked well.

be careful
I did a HD BIG motor wed nighy he had a 2-1 D&D no baffle and he did the washer trick different sizes on an adjustable threaded rod.
let me say this ..............
SIZE AND LENGTH DOES matter.
with one adjustment a 7# drop in torque :ohwow:

instead of the washer and stud I used an eyebolt. been in there for almost 2 1/2 years. definetly made a difference after adding my roadhouse slip-on. you just twist the eyebolt to diffent angles until your happy. heres a couple of pics.

it works, i read about it on another forum. lot of guys with the drag pipes are using this method. you could even use a bigger eyebolt if you like. good luck and ride safe.
