Neo rear tire removal.
« on: February 14, 2009, 04:52:32 PM »

Gonna get a new rear tire soon and was wondering if there are any tips to removing the rear tire from a neo. Or does it come right off with no problems? Just don't want to get into it and run into any problems... :ohwow:

I'm sure somebody with a ton more knowledge than I will jump in soon.

However, unless you take the exhaust apart, you will need a box end wrench (27mm ?) to fit the nut as there is no room for a socket.

... and hope that your lift will get the bike high enough to get the wheel out from under that beautiful, hugh fender.

Other than that go here: http://www.bareasschoppers.com/, clink the link on the left for "Remove Install rear tire" and have fun.

Just have to say you better have a Jack the go HIGH enough fo the tire will clear when you remove it!! That will be the hardest part!!  Good luck!

Thanks for replies... I do have aftermarket exhaust that is short of the axle so I do not need to mess with it.

Pull the fender off, makes the tire easy to access.

Pulling the fender off is a bad idea.  Just asking for a scratch.

I did mine on a regular moto jack.  Walmart I think. The trick is that when the tire comes down, you have to walk the tire out sideways.  Easy as pie.

As for the large nut, if you remove your shocks, then set the bike down(tire on fender) you can get to nut without having to remove the exaust.

hey twistedrcpilot, did you fill in the holes for the license plate holder when you moved it? Also is the light still there?

no, that was one of those, "I'll do it later" things. the light is still there. The three holes are covered by the honda plate that i pulled off of the side covers.  there are 2or3 holes still showing, but its not as noticable as having all 5or6 exposed
